LG fulfilled Sikh demand of appointment of Sikh Member in J&K PSC

As per information, Sikh Coordination Committee Chairman Sardar Ajeet Singh and S. Balvinder Singh Vice President JKUT Minority Morcha has impressed upon the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha many times for induction of one Sikh member in PSC,  "Over the past seven decades or so, the Sikhs of  Jammu and Kashmir have been discriminated in each and every sphere of life. The successive governments in the erstwhile state of  Jammu and Kashmir have meted out injustice to the Sikh community and the present dispensation is no different,” Ajeet Singh and S. Balvinder Singh stated.


S Balvinder Singh, President SPF  especially demand for induction of Member from the Sikh Community in the J&K Public Service Commission of JKUT. Sardar Balvinder Singh RTI  also observed that in the past for many years, there has been no representation from the Sikh community in the JKPSC which could take care of the Sikh youths in the employment generated by the UT Administration and recruited through PSC.


 SPF President said that this issue was raised by it with the UT Administration and subsequently with the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and they were assured that as and when there will be any post of member vacated by any retiring member, representative from the Sikh community would be inducted as a member in the JKPSC. SPF members hoped that the assurances given by the LG will be fulfilled and a suitable Sikh candidate shall be inducted as a member in the JKPSC.


After repeatedly efforts by Sikh Organisations, last week, as per an order, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has appointed Rajiv Singh, Professor and Head, Division of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science and AH, SKUAST-J, RS Pura, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, JKAS, Secretary in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Yashpal Kotwal, Retired Principal District Judge, Samba as members of the Public Service Commission for  Jammu and Kashmir.


The appointees will hold their positions until they attain the age of 62 years.
